A quick update to let you know that the tenders have gone out for contractors for the Phase 2 work at Powrie which is due to begin in the new year - exciting stuff.

Weather permitting we should sliding down the zip wire and doing chin ups on the trim trail before the end of March, or more realistically April - yay!

Great news - phase 2 funding for Powrie Park secured!

The parks project team is delighted to confirm that thanks to a wonderful response by the community to our recent fundraising plea, we have raised sufficient funds to draw down a grant for £60k from SITA Trust.

This means that work on phase 2 of developing Powrie Park will begin in November 2013 and, all being well, should be complete by Summer 2014.

Park Life! A progress update

Hands up who’s been brave enough to attempt the double pole slidy thing in Williamson Park or who’s been birled off either of the roundabouts?

* Park Progress Update - Jan 2013*

Hopefully you’ve noticed the progress being made in both Powrie and Williamson Parks?

Thanks to the generous donation of time and machinery from Ogilvy Webster (Webster Building Supplies) and John MacGregor (Binn Skips), the old play equipment was removed from both parks and the ground cleared early in January, ready for new equipment to be installed in February.

Park Works get the go ahead for Jan 2013

Great news!

We've secured sufficient funds to begin phase 1 of works at both Williamson & Powrie Parks week beginning 7 January 2013.

Works should be complete by April 2013 (weather pending).

This will mean temporary limited access to some of the equipment at both parks. Hopefully it won't be too much of an inconvenience.

We need hardcore rock (literally!) Can you help...?

Great news on the Powrie Park bike skill loop build...

We've got MTB experts and digger drivers lined up to help build a fun yet challenging bike track and woodland seating area in Powrie wood....but we need to source at least

  • 5 tonnes of rock (12" square and smaller if possible) and 
  • 5 tonnes of type 1 hardcore
to get things moving.
